Bulluck believes time with Titans is over

Tennessee Titans veteran linebacker Keith Bulluck believes his time with the franchise is coming to an end.

Bulluck tore his ACL last season and his contract is up, which is a very bad combination for the linebacker.

He said he hasn’t heard from the Titans since the end of the season, leading him to believe his career is over in Tennessee.

The veteran made it clear that he would love to return to the Titans and finish out his career with the team.

Despite the serious knee injury, Bulluck should generate significant interest on the free agent market.

Johnson named Offensive Player of the Year

Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson has been named the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year.

While several quarterbacks made a bid for the award, only Johnson was good enough to break a major barrier.

Johnson used a big effort in the season finale to top the 2,000 yard rushing mark on the season.

It made him only the sixth player in the history of the NFL to reach that mark, so he joins a very exclusive club.

He was also a terror out of the backfield catching passes, and at times was the sole weapon on the Tennessee offense.

Tennessee Titans star running back Chris Johnson just capped off a 2,000 yard rushing season. What’s next?

The speedy running back could be put to the test in a race against world record holder Usain Bolt.

Bolt has shattered the records in the 100 and 200 meter dashes and has proven to be virtually unbeatable.

The two sides are in discussions to put on a charity event that would certainly draw a lot of interest.

Johnson is hoping to keep the race shorter while Bolt wants it to be around 100 meters.

Titans slip past Seahawks, 17-13

The Tennessee Titans rallied from behind to slip past the Seattle Seahawks, 17-13.

The game was meaningless for both teams, as each was already eliminated from playoff contention.

That said, the Titans had plenty to play for with running back Chris Johnson pushing for 2,000 rushing yards on the year.

Johnson was able to become just the sixth player to reach the mark when he dove for a four-yard gain.

It was another big day for the speedy running back, who finished with 134 yards rushing and two touchdowns.

Titans crushed by Chargers, 42-17

The Tennessee Titans were given a beatdown by the San Diego Chargers in a 42-17 defeat that eliminated them from playoff contention.

Tennessee’s offense simply turned the ball over too many times while their defense forgot to show up on gameday.

The Titans were able to hang around for awhile but simply don’t have the offensive firepower to keep up with a good offensive team.

It was pretty clear that the loss of linebacker Keith Bullock was devastating for both the play on the field and the leadership that he brought to it.

Running back Chris Johnson still managed to have another spectacular game, rushing for 142 yards and a touchdown.

Titans hold off Dolphins, 27-24

The Tennessee Titans jumped out to a big lead only to hold on for a 27-24 overtime win over the Miami Dolphins.

Tennessee jumped out to a 24-6 lead only to see it disappear as the Dolphins were able to force overtime.

Running back Chris Johnson had 106 yards on the ground but did not get into the end zone. Johnson looks like he is going to fall short of his 2,000 rushing yards goal.

It was a big day for quarterback Vince Young, who threw for 232 yards and three touchdowns with just one interception.

The win keeps the Titans in the playoff picture, but barely. The Titans have seven losses in the conference, which kills them when it comes to the tiebreaker for a postseason berth.

Titans roll by Rams, 47-7

The Tennessee Titans continued their late season dominance with a 47-7 trouncing of the St. Louis Rams.

The Titans jumped out to an early lead behind quarterback Vince Young, who eventually left the game with a knee injury.

Veteran backup quarterback Kerry Collins was pressed into duty, but he had very little on his shoulders.

Running back Chris Johnson took care of all of the heavy lifting, topping 100 yards rushing and scoring twice.

The Titans will definitely fall short of the playoffs, but their late-season surge has to excited everyone for next season.

QB Young Aggravates Knee Injury

Titans QB Vince Young left practice on Thursday with ice wrapped around his knee after he aggravated a knee injury he originally suffered last week against Indianapolis.

After throwing a pass, Young walked gingerly towards the sideline before laying down on the ground to have a doctor check out his knee.

Titans coach Jeff Fisher expects Young to be ready to play on Sunday against the St. Louis Rams.

“At this point, I’m no more concerned about Vince than I am the other guys trying to work themselves back into health,” Fisher said.

If Young can’t go, the Titans will have to turn back to opening day starter Kerry Collins, who was benched after leading the team to an 0-6 start. Since replacing Collins as the starter, Young led the Titans to a 4-1 record, but the loss to the Colts last weekend all but killed the Titans’ playoff hopes.

Collins seems ready for another opportunity, if it happens.

“If I’m needed to play, I’ll be ready to go. It hasn’t been that long since I played really. As far as my preparation and stuff, I haven’t done anything different since we made the switch,” Collins said.

Titans fall to Colts, 27-17

The Tennessee Titans saw their playoff hopes go up in flames in a 27-17 loss to the Indianapolis Colts

The Titans struggled to establish running back Chris Johnson, who did go over 100 yards but couldn’t find the end zone.

It also didn’t help that quarterback Vince Young got dinger up just before halftime and was shaken up.

Young returned to the game, but the stingy Colts defense kept the quarterback and his receivers in check.

The Titans now have seven losses on the season, all in conference, so they would have to win out and hope for a miracle to reach the postseason.

Titans’ Miracle Run Ends as Colts Cruise, 27-17

That sound you heard yesterday was the collective sound of the air being pulled out of the playoff dreams of 60,000 Titans fans.

Peyton Manning and the Colts marched into Tennessee undefeated, and left the same way, after cruising to a 27-17 win over their division rivals to move to 12-0 on the season.

Manning was his usual, three-time MVP self, picking the Titans’ defense apart for 270 yards and a touchdown, but he relied on a suddenly resurgent ground game anchored by Joseph Addai to guide him past the Titans.

RB Chris Johnson carried the ball 27 times for 113 yards, marking his seventh straight 100-yard game, which ties him for Earl Campbell’s franchise record.

But twice in the second half, the Titans went for it on fourth down deep in the Colts’ territory and couldn’t convert either time.

“We just didn’t finish in the red zone,” quarterback Vince Young said. “Our guys made some big plays, but we just didn’t finish. Against a team like this, with an MVP quarterback, you have to score touchdowns.”

Tennessee was the last team to beat Indianapolis in the regular season… way back on Oct. 5, 2008. The Colts have now rung out 21 straight regular season wins, and go for the NFL record next weekend against Denver.
