Titans bring in Babin

The Tennessee Titans have brought in defensive end Jason Babin after the Philadelphia Eagles failed to match their offer for the pass rusher.

The Titans like Babin because he can pressure the quarterback and has a non-stop motor. In many ways, he seems like the perfect guy to fill the void left by Kyle Vanden Bosch’s departure.

Babin was a first-round pick back in 2004 and has played with several different teams during his relatively short NFL career.

He played in 12 games for the Eagles last season, but registered just 2 1/2 sacks. Despite that, the Titans do not appear concerned about the pressure he can put on the quarterback.

The defensive end is very excited to join the Titans because he likes the style of defense that they play. Then again, I’m sure he liked the style of defense played by the Eagles as well.

Titans sign Witherspoon

The Tennessee Titans have signed linebacker Will Witherspoon to a three-year contract worth $11 million.

The veteran Witherspoon, who is now 30, will be joining his third team in less than a year.

He began last year with the St. Louis Rams before being traded to the Philadelphia Eagles, who waived him to avoid paying a roster bonus.

The Titans have some questions at linebacker with Keith Bullock and David Thornton both coming off of significant injuries.

Witherspoon has missed just four games in his eight-year career and believes he has a lot of years left in him.
